Back from Hiatus
So there I was...pouring myself a glass of high pulp orange juice. My roommate Tyson comments to me, "that calcium-fortified stuff is the shiz-nit. Yeah that's right. I said shiz-nit." Oh Tyson. So white.
I had been planning on getting back on this horse for a little while now, and actually sat down to post last night, but got distracted. By what, I don't recall. The point being, I'm back, baby!
Something that came to mind this evening was the switch of the seasons; the changing of the guard, if you will. That got me thinking about a series of haikus I wrote a while back. Thought I would share that with y'all. I'm not big on titles, so it's just called "Seasons." Hope you enjoy.
Days and nights are cold
As the souls of men are cold
Bleak and without hope
Less light in the days
Darkness consumes the hours
A desolate state
A glimmer is seen
The promise of a future
A word to give hope
The time is coming
As the sowing of the word
Points to the future
And the word goes forth
Growing like a tender shoot
The vine branches out
Now days are long, hot
Men pant from thirst and longing
Waiting to be gone
Sun rise and sun set
Even though the seasons change
Some things never do
The breath in the wind
Cool, refreshing to the soul
Relief from the heat
Workers sent to reap
Set about their task until
Harvest is complete
Trees of red and gold
Scatter riches to the ground
Pave the trodden streets
The promise fulfilled
The glimmer now shines brightly
The hope realized
